Lemon shortage in Iceland
Lemons are sold out at numerous supermarket chains in Iceland and have also been sold out repeatedly at suppliers in recent weeks. "Lemon fever" has hit the country, says one salesman.
Two companies are waiting for a lemon delivery which is stuck on a cargo ship at Reykjavík harbour due to bad weather.
"Some kind of lemon fever has hit Iceland," explains Ólafur Níels Bárðarson at wholesale company Bananar ehf. "Everyone is on some kind of lemon detox thing. It's a bit unusual although it seems everyone goes on some detox diet after the Christmas holidays. "
Some Icelanders have complained of the lemon shortage in Iceland stating that they don't know what Icelandic society is coming to.
