Pussy popcorn and penis scarves

"It all started with my photographs of genitalia which I took last summer. I thought they were strong and beautiful and wanted to expand on the idea," says sexologist Sigríður Dögg Arnardóttir who has organised an exhibtion of human genitalia in many forms at Design March.
"We are often afraid to call genitals by their correct names and even have trouble talking about them says Arnardóttir who along with five other artists/designers form the group Sköpun/Genitalia.
"Each of us will be presenting genitalia using a different medium. Some use abstract, others use text, another uses pictures," she explains. "These five designers all have different styles and I think that's our strength. Anna Rakel is a graphic designer and is working on transgender issues. Ýr has knitted a penis scarf and will also be exhibiting knitted vaginas and testicles. Alda Lilja will be exhibiting humorous drawings and Krista Hall will be making an installation on the genitalia theme. She's done a fantastic drawing of a pussy popping popcorn. It's got popcorn exploding out of it. "
Sköpun/Genitalia will be exhibited at The Reykjavik Maritime Museum at Grandi and starts on Thursday March 12th as a part of DesignMarch.
