Are you the best at rock, paper, scissors?

If you’re in the mood for an unusual sporting experience, then don’t miss tonight’s All-Iceland Rock-Paper-Scissors Championship, to be held at Lebowski Bar in Reykjavik.

32 competitors will be hand-gesturing their way through the knock-out competition. Most Icelanders will be familiar with the game, but this is likely the first time an All-Iceland Championship has been held.

According to Ágúst Ingi Atlason Kristmanns, an employee of Lebowski Bar, this is not the first unusual championship to be held at the popular Reykjavik venue and probably won’t be the last. “Last month, for instance, we held a very successful All-Iceland Tetris championship with 25 competitors. The plan for April is a Musical-Chairs Championship,” he explains.

There is no official registration process for tonight’s event. Those interested in taking part should ensure they arrive at the venue by 8pm.
