Country music doesn't get hipper than this
The angelic voiced SIgurlaug Gísladóttir, aka Mr.Silla, is among the artists performing at Kex Köntrí.
Kex Hostel, the ubercool hostel and bar/restaurant on Reykjavik's central Skúlagata is hosting their fourth Kex Köntrí festival.
The festival was set up to celebrate July 4th and takes place at the hostel on July 2nd- 4th offering a number of outstanding Icelandic artists.
The artists have all been selected because of the influence they take from American folk and country music. See the angelic voiced Mr.Silla, country and blues favourite KK, psychedelic Lights on the Highway and house band Kex Köntrí All Stars featuring musicians Ingibjörg Elsa Turchi, Óskar Kjartansson, Tómas Jónsson and Örn Eldjárn.
In true American spirit, Kex Hostel will offer American influenced food and drink, includinc ribs, creamed corn and homemade lemonade. And, in the usual Kex Hostel style, a selection of excellent beer on tap.
