A 17th century Icelandic spoon container with beautiful carvings was donated yesterday to the National Museum of Iceland from the Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum in Iowa.

"It's a rare and unique item, beautifully carved out and painted," says museum director Margrét Hallgrímsdóttir. Icelandic consul in Minnesota, Örn Arnar acted on behalf of the Icelandic state to retrieve the object back to Iceland.
