The uber hip Kex Hostel will be hosting The Annual Icelandic Beer Festival 2016 this month to celebrate 27 years since prohibition of beer was lifted in Iceland.  Beer was not sold in Iceland until March 1st 1989. Until then it was thought that alcohol consumption in Iceland would rise if the sale of beer was allowed.

The hostel and sister travel agency Kexland are inviting people to get to know the best of the Icelandic beer trade with several breweries taking part. A few North American and Danish breweries are also taking part. The Kex restaurant, Sæmundur í sparifötunum has conjured up a special menu for the duration of the festival and local breweries will introduce their products and methods.

The festival which runs from February 24th to February 27th offers a taste of the best of Icelandic beer as well as a few North American and Danish beers.

Kex Hostel’s gastropub Sæmundur í sparifötunum will offer a beer orientated menu for the duration of the festival and local breweries will introduce their products and methods.

Festival passes give access to the festival where people can try out the beer and meet the brewers behind them.  Also included is access to an exclusive final event in the city of Reykjavík which includes a special live concert offering some of Iceland's finest talents.

The festival pass includes all beer tasting at the festival, a meet and greet with the people behind the beer, a beer workshop, live music, a tote bag, beer coasters, bar snacks and more.
