Fleet Foxes, Billy Bragg, Mammút, JFDR + more acts announced for Iceland Airwaves 2017

Iceland Airwaves is proud to announce that Fleet Foxes will be playing two shows during this year´s festival. The legendary Billy Bragg will also be performing, as well as a diverse list of local and international names including new Bella Union signees Mammút and JFDR (aka Jófríður from Samaris). Fleet Foxes will be playing Iceland Airwaves on Friday 3rd November and Saturday 4th November, with both shows being at Eldborg, Harpa. Friday tickets can be bought separately via tix.is on sale Friday 24th February. Saturday tickets will be handed out that day at Harpa Media Center from 3pm for Iceland Airwaves ticket holders on a first come, first served basis. Ásgeir is set to play an exclusive show at Eldborg, Harpa at this year's festival, rounding off what is set to be an even bigger year for the Icelandic sensation. Tickets for the Eldborg show will be allocated on a first come, first served basis from the venue on the day of the show, date tba. Iceland Airwaves now in Akureyri as well as ReykjavíkIn an exciting new development, Iceland Airwaves is going to be happening across two cities this year. Iceland Airwaves is expanding to Akureyri in Northern Iceland for the first time, giving international and local music lovers the opportunity to enjoy the festival in three ways: you can buy a ticket for the whole four day Reykjavík festival (£123.50/17,900 ISK) or the two day Akureyri festival (£61.50/ 8,900 ISK), or even do a combination of the two, attending 2nd - 3rd November at Akureyri then flying to Reykjavík for the 4th - 5th November (£110/ 15,900 ISK). As for just the Akureyri festival across the 2nd - 3rd November, 25 artists from the Reykjavík line-up will be performing in this bustling capital of the North, complete with plenty of Off Venue bands too. So why not try a different version of Iceland Airwaves this year and combine with a trip to Akureyri's stunning answer to the blue lagoon, spectacular highlands and waterfalls? And Àsgeir will be playing in both locations too. |
About Iceland Airwaves
Since the first edition was held in 1999 in an old airplane hangar, Iceland Airwaves has become one of the premier annual showcases for new music – Icelandic and otherwise – in the world. It's made a heap of friends and won many fans along the way as well as been lavished with praise pretty much everywhere they write about music.
Each Iceland Airwaves sees artists from all over the world perform in Reykjavík, encouraging this by running an open submission to play the festival. Artist applications are now online on the festival website.
