According to space weather reports a coronal mass injection from the sun is heading to the earth's magnetic field at 600 km/second which will result in strong northern lights over Iceland in the next 10 days. Solar winds buffeting earth's magnetic field this week has sparked bright northern lights all around the Arctic Circle.

The Icelandic met office however is not hopeful that any of these northern lights will be seen in south Iceland. "The weather is going to be relatively warm, cloudy and rainy until Tuesday." explained a staff member to mbl.is and added that the best chance to see northern lights in the coming week would be in north Iceland where skies are clearer.
