Lava field larger than Manhattan
This image was captured by the Landsat B satellite and shows the lava field in the vast snowy tundra. Photo/Nasa
NASA just published new photographs of Holuhraun captured by satellite Landsat 8. The images clearly show how much land the lava field now covers and in an accompanying article on NASA's webpage it states it is now larger than Manhattan, New York.
There it also states that volcanologists do not rule out the possibility of the eruption lasting several years.
