"She's really happy," says zookeeper Stefanie Meier at Slakki zoo referring to little Dilla, a n orphaned seal cub fostered by zoo staff. Dilla is a very playful seal and is practising her fish catching skills.

Dilla, who is fed on a mixture of fish and cream has gained four kilos since her arrival at the zoo. Until now, she has only tried to play with the fish in her pool but the zoo is expecting a smaller type of fish for her to catch. Dilla needs to learn how to catch fish for herself so that she can be released from captivity at some stage. Meier believes the seal cub is only a month and a half old now.  At night, Dilla sleeps inside a little hut and in the daytime she swims in the pool, plays with a ball and tries to catch her own tail.

If everything goes well, Dilla will be released into the wild in August. Staff member Helgi Sveinbjörnsson is searching for a sponsor so that staff will be able to put a monitor on Dilla before she's released. "She's become rather well-known and it would be lovely to be able to know how she's doing and what will happen to her."
