NW Iceland majorly affected by heavy rain
The Strandir area of Iceland’s West Fjords has been majorly affected by heavy rainfall last night and this morning. Many roads have been closed and there are reports of flooded rivers, mudslides and falling rocks.
In one locality in the area, Litlu-Ávík, 74.4 mm of rain fell in just fifteen hours. Landslides and localised flooding have closed several roads in the area. Icelandic Road Administration operatives have reached some but not all of the affected roads.
