Following the announcement by British Airways of a new £25 one-way deal between London and Iceland, Icelandic airlines appear to have responded by lowering their prices also.

Icelandic low-cost airline WOW air last week sent out a mailing-list offer on flights to London for ISK 5,999, just slightly higher than the announced BA fare of ISK 5,055.

WOW air told Icelandic tourism and travel website turisti.is that this move was part of the airline’s policy to offer the lowest price on any given route.

National carrier Icelandair also reduced its basic London fare last week from ISK 17,455 to ISK 16,205 (approx. €112; £82). The official justification for this move is a fall in fuel prices.

It should be noted that Icelander’s fare includes checked-in hold luggage whereas the others do not, and that some of the BA and WOW air cheapest fares are already sold out.
