The Icelandic Foreign Ministry has warned against unnecessary travel to Sharm el-Sheikh and other destinations on Egypt’s Sinai peninsula.
A passenger jet operated by Russian airline Metrojet crashed shortly after taking off from Sharm el-Sheikh – a popular tourist destination – for reasons as yet unestablished, killing all 224 on board.
“The US and the UK have both said intelligence points to the strong possibility it was caused by a bomb,” according to BBC News.
Icelanders are officially advised not to travel to the area unless absolutely necessary and to keep an eye on travel advice issued by other countries.
