Weekend snow and ice for Reykjavik

A blanket of white has descended on the Icelandic capital of Reykjavik and forecasters predict a weekend of cold, wintry conditions.

Snow has been falling heavily this afternoon and, according to forecasts from the Icelandic Met Office, will continue to do so through the evening and through to tomorrow.

Low temperatures over the weekend mean that the snow falling today is unlikely to melt. Meteorologists are predicting a real winter weekend of weather over the coming days.

Drivers – particular those still driving on ‘summer tyres’ – are warned of icy conditions affecting many roads in the areas.
