December is set to make a stormy entrance tomorrow, with forecasters predicting strong winds, freezing temperatures, snow, and treacherous travelling conditions.

Already in the grips of a cold snap, Iceland will be further battered over the next 24 hours by worsening wintry conditions and no let-up in the cold weather.

A storm is set to hit eastern parts of the country this afternoon, gradually affecting the whole country by tomorrow. Driving conditions will be difficult and the Icelandic Met Office is warning against travel while the storm lasts.

The combination of strong winds, loose snow and freezing temperatures is likely to lead to major drifting snow. More snowfall is not out of the question.

The maximum temperature in Reykjavik tomorrow will be -1°C, and -4°C in Akureyri and Egilsstaðir. Freezing temperatures are expected to last at least until the end of the week.
