The new week in Iceland is set to begin with northerly winds and freezing temperatures, with conditions particularly difficult in southern and eastern parts.

The northerly winds affecting Iceland today will be strong, possible gusting to storm force to the south of Vatnsjökull glacier and in southern parts of the Iceland’s eastern fjords.

Winds will die down tomorrow, but many parts of the country are expected to see continuing frost and snow showers, causing difficult driving conditions.

Midday temperatures today in Reykjavik, Akureyri and Egilsstaðir are forecast to be around the -5°C mark (approx. 23°F).
