Cold snap forecast for Easter

Don’t get too used to the recent mild temperatures, forecasters warn, as Easter weekend is set to bring cold temperatures, particularly in northern parts.

“The chances of an Easter cold snap are very high indeed,” says meteorologist Einar Sveinbjörnsson.

Relatively mild temperatures will continue to dominate until Maundy Thursday or Good Friday, after which colder conditions are expected.

In particular, North Iceland is forecast to see strong winds and snowfall with temperatures in the region of -3°C to -8°C (18-27°F). In the south, daytime temperatures should hold over freezing point, but night frosts are extremely likely.
