Iceland-Budapest flights under way

Yesterday afternoon saw the inaugural service from Iceland to the Hungarian capital of Budapest operated by low-cost airline Wizz Air.

Budapest is the airline’s second destination from Iceland, the first being Gdansk in Poland. The airline is the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe.

Operator of Iceland’s Keflavík International Airport (KEF) Isavia decided to mark the occasion by laying on light refreshments for passengers on the flight.

There will be two round trips a week between Iceland and Budapest, operating on Wednesdays and Sundays. The flight time is roughly 4.5 hours.

Wizz Air is planning to add a new destination – the Polish capital of Warsaw – to its Iceland network in May.
