The Iceland Naturally marketing initiative is now trying to get private jets to refuel in Iceland, offering a gift pack of Icelandic beer, Brennivín (the local strong aquavit), a case of  Icelandic Glacial bottled water and skin care products from the Blue Lagoon.

The campaign, which you can read about HERE, tells people about what they can do on an Iceland stopover and offers advice on tours and trips around the country.

According to mbl.is the gift package offer has been available for a month or so but noone has gone for it yet.

PR representative of Isavia Keflavik International Airport, Guðni Sigurðsson, speaking to mbl.is, says that the campaign targets wealthy travellers on board the private jets.

"The aim of the tourist industry is to try to get as much out of every tourist as possible and we're taking part in that. We're trying to find out how much we can get over  a short time period. The aim is to get these people to travel around Iceland and to spend money."

He adds that the campaign is a good way to get international media coverage, and Forbes has already run the story.
