Iceland hotel room prices up 38% since 2013

Owing to inflation and a strengthening króna, hotel prices in Reykjavik in euros have risen 38% over the last four years.

According to a new report by Icelandic bank Arion, prices for hotel rooms in Reykjavik in Icelandic króna have risen moderately since 2013, but a strengthening domestic currency means that the rise is much greater for those coming from abroad.

The average cost of a hotel room in Reykjavik in 2016 is €134, as compared to €97 back in 2013. The euro is the most used currency among tourists visiting Iceland.

As can be seen from the table, hotel prices in euros in Iceland are now outstripping those in famous European tourist destinations such as Amsterdam and Barcelona.
