Icelandic Minister of Health, Kristján Þór Júlíusson admitted to having taken both legal and illegal drugs in an interview with a new programme on RÚV national television, Hæpið, aimed at teenagers.

The pilot show of Hæpið, focused on the party circuit of teenagers and how easy it is to aquire illegal drugs. Two teens, under the legal alcholol drinking age, took part in an experiment on the show to see how easy it was for them to get their hands on both alcohol and cannabis. It turned out it only took them five minutes and a few phonecalls.

Unnstein Manuel Stefánsson, one of the programme hosts who is also known as a band member with the popular Retro Stefson, interviewed Minister of Health Kristján Þór Júlíusson.

Are you going to legalise drugs?," asked Stefánsson.

"No, that doesn't interest me," answered the Minister. "This is first and foremost about looking for ways of achieving better results in the fight against illegal drugs."

"And you, yourself, do you party a lot?" asked Stefánsson.

"Without limits," said the Minister, smiling, and added, "Not after I moved to the city of fear," referring to his move from Akureyri to Reykjavík.

Finally, Stefánsson asked, "Have you taken illegal drugs?" and the Minister answered, "Of course. Both legal and illegal."

He was then asked which drugs he had taken to which he answered laughing," I'm not going to say. Nobody is interested in hearing that. "
