"People are of course worried about the risk and also the insurances and risk premiums available in case of possible infection," explains Cecile Björgvinsdóttir, a registered nurse and rights department manager of the Icelandic Association of Nurses.
A response team is being prepared with around 25 doctors and nurses in the possibility of an Ebola infected person arriving in Iceland.
Björgvinsdóttir adds that nurses both feel the responsibility to help as well as fearing the risk of infection. Meetings were held at the national hospital yesterday and nurses were given the option to register for the response team.
Margrét Guðjónsdóttir, one of the team directors says that as soon as the team is fully staffed, intense training will begin. "This is definitely one of the most complicated projects we've encountered. "
