There are several indications that the weapons found by a bomb squad in Iraq in 2003 did indeed contain chemical weapons. Bomb specialist Jónas Þorvaldsson revealed this in an interview on Rúv national television last night as a follow up to The New York Times story  on the secret casualties of Iraq's abandoned chemical weapons.

Þorvaldsson, a member of the bomb squad states that he, along with a team of Danish and British bomb specialists found bombs containing high levels of mustard gas.

The US army, however, did not find the bombs to contain any chemical agents and did not explain how they came to this conclusion.

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Halldór Ásgrímsson said in an interview with mbl.is, "We had no reason to doubt what our people were doing over there and what they found there. That's why we released the information, supported by Danish and British experts. It therefore surprised us when the US said something completely different. However, there was nothing else we could do in the matter."
