People of Höfn warned to stay indoors

Considerable pollution is now in the town of Höfn, in Hornafjörður east Iceland due to the Holuhraun eruption. Last night the levels of sulphur dioxide (SO2) rose to 1,8 ppm or around 5100 µg/m3. This warning was announced from the Icelandic Civil Protection.
Text messages to mobile phones were sent to residents in the area where they were urged to stay indoors, close their windows and turn up their central heating.
