Picturesque Siglufjörður, in North Iceland will be priding itself of a new hotel which will formally open on June 1st. "We're already pretty booked for next summer and next autumn so we're very optimistic," says Finnur Yngvi Kristinsson, project manager at Rauðka in Siglufjörður.

"The project is going really well and is on schedule and on June 1st everything should be ready," says Kristinsson. The hotel is on the harbourfront at Siglufjörður and much effort has gone into the design. With 63 rooms on two floors, the building is constructed in a classic Icelandic style.

The number of tourists to Siglufjörður have greatly increased in recent years and around 40 - 50 thousand tourists come to the small fishing town each year. Winter guests are also on the increase as the area offers an excellent skiing area.

"We felt the need of additional hotel space in the area," says Kristinsson."We believe that the hotel will help tourism to the whole area. " Until now, only tourist companies have made bookings at the hotel but at the end of next week, individuals can make bookings.
