The Reykjavik District Court yesterday ordered a man into custody at the National Hospital psychiatric ward until November 27th. The man is suspected of killing his wife at their home in Breiðholt, Reykjavík, at the end of September. 

The man, who is 29 years old was arrested on September 28th was originally ordered into custody at Litla-Hraun prison where he was in isolation. He has been suffering with mental illness and police are waiting for the result both of a psychiatric evaluation and for the results of the autopsy of the deceased who is thought to have died from strangulation. His defendant said in an interview with mbl.is that he is now in the hands of the staff of the court psychiatry ward where he will receive good care. 

The couple's two children, aged two and five were at home, but sleeping, when the tragedy occurred and have been placed with the child authorities.
