Over four thousand people have hit the "join" button on a Facebook event for a second protest in front of the parliament building, Alþingi, in central Reykjavik. The protest, organized by the Jæja group is to voice displeasure at the government's actions and today will focus on the Icelandic healthcare system.Last Monday's protest saw over 6.000 people protesting.

Today's protest comes on the same day that the Goverment is making announcements of debt write-offs. Guðmundur Hörður Guðmundsson, one of the protest organizers does not believe that today's announcements will change people's minds to protes, saying that the misguided and misfortunate actions of the current government are inciting people to protest. "I don't think today's announcement will make any difference. There are plenty of people on the rental market who won't reap any benefits of lowering installments on housing loans. I don't think young people feel at all that they're being helped out on the housing market. Plus people are really unhapppy about the worsening situation of the healthcare system, the food tax, and an unhealthy political culture. There's plenty to protest about."

The protest starts at 5 p.m this afternoon.
