Many children have been hit by the flu this November. Today's strike action will shut down healthcare centres and increased traffic is to be expected at the ER. Golli / Kjartan Þorbjörnsson

The second round of strike action by the Icelandic doctors' association began at midnight last night. Doctors in health care centres all around Iceland are on strike today. Increased emergency room traffic is expected today due to these closures.

The departments most hit by the strike are the women and children's services at the National University Hospital. Strikes in the research departments will affect the operations and surgical departments today.

A full list of the strike action is found here.
