An ice cave being constructed in Langjökull glacier will open on June 1st 2015. The construction company, IceCave has published a video to give an idea of the experience. According to managing director of IceCave Sigurður Skarphéðinsson, " A human being feels very small standing inside it."

According to Skarphéðinsson the cave won't look exactly like it does in the video although all the main structures will be there and adds that visitors will be able to see a glacier crevasse. "It's not often that tourists can see a huge crevasse in a safe environment."

Drilling through the ice to create the cave will be finished at the end of January and then work on lighting and other details will commence. The ice tunnel will span 450 metres and it wil take 40- 60 minutes to walk through it.

There, travellers will be able to view ice that has been forming over centuries. As visitors get further underground, the ice gets older and the colour changes from white to a magnificent deep blue. The cave even includes a chapel where people can get married within the icy realms.

To get to the ice cave, IceCave will bring people in a specially equipped arctic truck and the whole journey including the ice cave will cost 17,900 ISK.

The total cost of construction will amount to 250 - 300 million ISK financed by the Icelandic Tourism Fund.
