The Reykjavik environmental and city planning committee has agreed for an extension to be made to Sundhöllin pool in central Reykjavik. An outdoor pool with hot tubs and a kids pool will be added and will no doubt be a popular sunspot.
Sundhöllin was designed by architect Guðjón Samúelsson and has a very distinctive neo-classical building style. It's an indoor-only pool which is rare for Iceland with only its hot-tubs outside on a small balcony.
The new indoor pool will be 8,5 by 25 metres with a new foyer, changing rooms, a kid's pool and a waterslide as well as a sunbathing area.
If all goes according to plan, it will be ready within two years.
