Two avalanches occurred at approximately five p.m today in Súðavík, in the West Fjords on the Súðarvíkurhlíð road. Noone was injured but two cars escaped the flood by a matter of seconds.

The road is now closed to all traffic.

Weather and road conditions are bad around the country. Many roads are very icy and in north Iceland there's a blizzard.

Temperatures in Reykjavík have plunged and will go down to -7 C this weekend.
