Today marks six months of no deaths on Icelandic roads, the last fatal traffic accident having occurred on 28 August 2014.

The Head of the Icelandic Automobile Association, Steinþór Jónsson, puts recent lower fatality rates down to the collective efforts of the police, the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration, the Icelandic Transport Authority, the Icelandic Automobile Association, and other traffic-safety organisations.

"It should also be said that doctors are saving more crash victims than ever before and cars have become better," adds Jónsson.
