Even educated sheep do it...
A couple of Icelandic farmers from Langholt in Skagafjörður (Northern Iceland) received an unexpected surprise this week when one of their sheep, Lukka, gave birth to two lambs.
At least six weeks early
Lambing time in Iceland does not usually begin until the end of April or the beginning of May. Laufey Leifsdóttir and Sigfús Ingi Sigfússon were therefore astounded at this early arrival. Never before had they seen one of their sheep give birth in March.
“We weren’t expecting this,” jokes Sigfússon. “Clearly some clandestine reproductive activities goings-on here in beautiful Skagafjörður!”
