Jón Gnarr not to run for President

"I'm afraid of the thought of becoming a part of the awful and tacky culture which is Icelandic political culture," writes Jón Gnarr in an open letter published in Fréttablaðið today where he announces that he will not be running for President in next year's election. Gnarr's possible Presidentia run has been a hot topic of discussion in Iceland and polls have shown that if he were to run for the office he would be greatly supported.
"It's just something that I can't bring on myself, on my wife or my son. I've made a decision not to run for President of Iceland this time. Maybe later. I want to thank for all the friendship and respect shown to me. "
