Vilhjálmur Bjarnason, member of Parliament for the center-right Independence Party in Iceland, said today in Parliament that the Icelandic Pirate party was affiliated with organized crime. Polls conducted recently show that the Icelandic Pirate Party is growing in popularity and is currently polling as the largest political party in Iceland with 23-29% of voters saying they would cast their vote for the Pirates if the elections would be held today.

“If piracy is not organized crime, then I don’t understand the word”, Vilhálmsson said in his speech in Parliament today. He also said that he hoped that this poll was a warning to his party.
