Severe wintry conditions on the way
Severe wintry conditions are forecast for this weekend, beginning with storms and snow later today, according to the Icelandic Met Office.
Storm arriving this afternoon
The storm will hit South-Eastern Iceland this afternoon, bring strong winds and snow. By evening, the bad weather will reach Eastern Iceland and from there move on to affect the whole northern part of the country. Gusts of up to 51mph (23m/s) are forecast for tomorrow.
Extensive transport problems
Stormy conditions tomorrow will be worst in the West Fjords, moving to the north-east tomorrow evening. Transport problems are expected in all parts of the country.
Meteorologists forecast a return of “good” weather by Sunday.
