Icelandic meterologist Trausti Jónsson has studied the weather forecast of the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts for June, July and August and believes that temperatures will be below average. He adds that it's impossible to predict exactly how the weather will be in the summer but that the European weather forecast centre's predictions are exact in 40 percent of cases.

"If there's a south-westerly wind direction in the summer then it will rain and be quite cold in south west Iceland," says Jónsson. "Temperatures are below average in the ocean south west of Iceland and if there's a predominant southwesterly wind direction it is likely that temperatures will be below average."
