Reykjavik air-pollution warning

Levels of PM-10 particle pollution in Reykjavik are likely to exceed acceptable public-health levels today. People are encouraged to keep an eye on air-quality levels over the next few days while dry conditions prevail.

PM-10 levels high

At 2pm, the half-hour PM-10 levels as measured at two Reykjavik locations were in the range of 80-122 µg/m3. The 24-hour standard for healthy PM-10 levels is a maximum of 50 µg/m3.

Dry conditions are expected over the next few days, while strong winds could stir up particulates. The Reykjavik Public Health Authority is monitoring air quality closely and will send warnings and guidance as necessary.
