Art stolen from Hallgrímskirkja
A piece of art displayed in the porch of Reykjavik’s iconic Hallgrímskirkja church was stolen yesterday morning.
The piece, by Icelandic artist Helgi Þorgils Friðjónsson, was apparently well secured, meaning that the thief will have needed to put some effort into stealing it.
“It disappeared between 11am and noon [yesterday],” says Friðjónsson. “The CCTV cameras are now being looked out, but I don’t know what will emerge.”
A search is now on for the thief.
