" I'm 11 years old from the United States. What can I do to help? I want to help. Can I send stuff someplace?," rites Davon Haas from the US on the Icelandic Facebook page Kæra Eygló Harðar - Sýrland kallar, a page of goodwill towards Syrian refugees which has hit international headlines.  The page was set up for Icelandic pledges of goodwill to help Syrian refugees upon their arrival in Iceland and to put pressure on the Icelandic Government to increase the number of the refugee quota from a total of 50 refugees over two years.

Now, among the thousands of notes written by Icelanders pledging to help on the page,  are messages from people from the world over.

Bisher Krouma from Syria writes: " Thank you fellow humans, In this I start my very humble message that aims to thank the Icelandic people for their support of this cause and giving every interested person more information about the situation here in Syria.I am a young Syrian youth who's 23 years old living in Damascus. Seeing the posts below and the comments restored my faith in humanity after it was totally lost...After 4 devastating years living in the most dangerous country in the world (according to the global peace index), being forced to watch horrific scenes in addition to escaping death a few times, while most of the world was watching and doing nothing was the major factor in losing my faith."

Najem Al Habbal is also Syrian and thanks Icelanders for their kindness. "Thank you for your kindness and humanity. I offer my help if you need it, if you need information about the Syrian people and what it does, and does not do. Maybe it could help housing matters both for hosts and for refugees."

Haitham Hamzeh tries his hand at wriitng in Icelandic: "Við Sýrlendingar segja: Þakka þér að íslensku þjóðinni." (Us Syrians say, thank you Icelandic nation.)

Adnan is a 45 years old lawyer living in Syria with his wife who is a teacher. He has three daughters and would like to settle in Iceland so that his girls keep getting a good education. "Thank you for your sympathy and concern," he writes.

Yamina of Argentina writes, "I want you to know that I would like to be able to help in any way even if it is looking at the possibility of host some boy or girl in my house. I know it's hard, but I'd like to try the possibility. I don't have an economic position olgada but I can provide the necessary and lots of love. I hope you have an alternative. I'm mom and I have a baby of 19 months of age. I have a job and a little house."

Many are inspired by the Iceland Facebook page and have launched similar pages in their home countries. Laure Surrich writes, "New Zealand cares. Thank you Iceland for being such wonderful role models. She's set up the site Dear Rt. Hon John Key- Syria is calling.

Nora Barré from the US did the same thing and set up Syria is calling USA.

And Giselle Vargas writes from Brazil saying, "Cold country, warm hearts."
