Thunder and lightning over Reykjavik

Citizens of Reykjavik reported loud thunder in the vicinity of Morgunblaðið's offices in Hádegismóar at around 6 pm and thunder was also heard in the central district of Hlíðar in the 105 postcode. 

Thunder and lightning is a rarity in Iceland. 

A bolt of lightning struck the electrical cable called Bláfjallalína just outside Reykjavik which meant that electricity was down for a few minutes. 

Now how fitting is that for a Halloween weekend?
