Ship still at the bottom of Reykjavik harbour

Perla, the sand dredger ship which sank in Reykjavikharbour on Monday, is still at the bottom of the ocean and the likely hood of it being damaged beyond repair is 50 percent.

Attempts were made to pump water out of the vessel yesterday to get it afloat but windows broke and seawater flooded into the cabin. Divers tried to cover up the windows with shutters but shortly before midnight last night all operations were abandoned.

This afternoon another attempt at rescuing the vessel will be made.

The accompanying video by Mbl.is shows rescue operations taking place last night.
