Sweden and Ukraine are the final two countries qualified for next year’s Euro 2016 finals in France, at which Iceland will be present for the very first time. The final play-offs took place last night.

The group draw for Euro 2016 will take place on 12 December in Paris, and Iceland will face three other teams in the initial stages of the competition.

The 24 qualified teams have been classified into four ‘seeding pots’, from which six groups of four teams will be drawn.

On the basis of UEFA national team ‘coefficients’, Iceland has been placed in the lowest seeding pot, along with Albania, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Turkey and Wales.

Iceland will therefore face one team from Pot 1, one from Pot 2 and one from Pot 3 in the group stages of next year’s competition.
