A 400 metre ice skating rink is now being set up in the centre of Reykjavik, in Ingólfstorg, a concrete square which is a popular for skaters during warmer months. The skating rink is offered by telecommunications company Nova in cooperation with Samsung.

The ice skating rink will open on December 1st at 8 pm and will be open every day from noon until evening until December 23rd.

It will tie in nicely with the Christmas village around Ingólfstorg where people can purchase gift items and refreshments. And best of all, ice skating at the new rink will be free of charge, and skates and helmets can be rented on location.

Until now, the only option for ice skating in the city centre is on the picturesque Lake Tjörnin, depending obviously on the temperatures outside.

The ice skating rink in Laugardalur however is open all year round.
