Fatal car accident on Suðurlandsvegur

An older man died in an accident on Suðurlandsvegur, just outside Reykjavik when two cars collided yesterday afternoon. 

Three people were involved with the accident and mbl.is has no further information as yet to the health of the other two people. Traffic came to a halt for around two hours, or until 6 pm in the area yesterday and police asked drivers to turn eastwards at Norðlingaholt in Reykjavik. 

Investigation into the accident is undeway. Thirteen people have died in road accidents in Iceland this year, compared to four last year.
