The rainy autumnal weather of recent days will be making way for distinctly wintrier conditions over the coming week, with most parts of the country set to see freezing temperatures and snowfall.

Snow will come first to southern and western parts of Iceland, spreading to other parts of the country as the week wears on.

Minimum temperatures are set to fall at their most extreme to -8°C (18°F) in the capital Reykjavik and to -12°C (10°F) in the northern town of Akureyri.
