A group of runners in the 10 km Adidas Boost Run, which took place in Reykjavik last night, completed the race in record time were very pleased with themselves as many of them improved their personal record significantly. Until they found out the route was in fact only 8.7 km long.

“There was a little mistake,” says Kristófer Þorgrímsson from Adidas. “There was a turning point that had been marked. The people working the drink station at the turning point started off too late, and had not arrived at the marked location when the runners caught up with them. They set up the station where the runners passed them and decided not to move it to the right location so all participants would run the same distance.”

Some of the runners were not too happy discovering their outstanding times were not as outstanding as they previously thought. “I think they all forgave this mistake,” says Þorgrímsson.
