The accumulated snow in Reykjavík could reach up to twenty centimeters in height in the coming week, according to a meteorologist at the Icelandic Met Office.

The snowfall in the capital region will continue through next week, with the exception of Monday, when it will rain.

“The forecast is between 30-40 centimeters of accumulated snow, but it’s likely to rain on Monday,” says meteorologist Eiríkur Örn Jóhannsson of the Icelandic Met Office.

Raining next week

There could be hail falling today and tomorrow and will continue through next week with the exception of Monday.

“It will only add up to what is not going to be able to melt in the rain on Monday. So snow will probably accumulate in the next week,” he says.
