The police in the capital area are still investigating the case of a customer of Landsbanki Bank who was the victim of thieves at an ATM recently.

The thieves, three men, and one woman, obtained a card from a customer of the bank and, once they had acquired the PIN number, they were able to withdraw money from the card.

The thieves managed to take over ISK 200 thousand from the man's account, but he discovered rather quickly that he was missing the debit card and managed to have the bank close it before the amount increased.

Make sure no one sees your pin number

According to police officer Heimir Ríkharðsson, the case is still under investigation and is progressing, but some parties in the case have been questioned.

He says it is very important that people make sure nobody can see the PIN when they are entered into an ATM and to be careful about other people in the space when they are getting money from ATMs.
