Lava flows from seven to eight craters in the volcano at Sundhnúkagígar crater row and their edges seem to be thickening up. Considerable activity seems to be continuing at the volcano and is similar to last night.

Einar Hjörleifsson, a natural hazard specialist at the Icelandic Met Office, says that nothing seems to reduce lava flow closest to the craters, but it becomes more apparent later today.

Minimal earthquake activity is in the area.

Gas pollution in Reykjanesbær

Concerning gas pollution caused by the eruption, it was predicted that the wind would be in a south direction last night, but that it would be in a southeasterly direction today. The gas will be Wind up to 13 to 20 meters per second in the afternoon but will be lower by evening. The gas pollution will spread to the northwest and could be felt in Reykjanesbær and nearby communities. In gas measurements overnight, no unhealthy values have been measured, according to Hjörleifsson.

There was no new news last night about the inflation that has begun again at Svartsengi.
